We answer calls all day for small service businesses, and the search that brings people here is almost always typed one-handed, right after a call rang out. Here is the short version, including the part that costs us the click.
Jobber sells its own AI Receptionist as an add-on to any plan, free on Plus. Beside does not integrate with Jobber. So the honest split is simple: if you want calls landing inside Jobber, use Jobber's. If you only need the phone answered, you don't need a Jobber subscription to do it.
Jobber already answers your phone. Start there.
Jobber launched Receptionist in August 2025, and by launch it had handled more than 200,000 conversations. Jobber's Receptionist picks up calls and texts around the clock, offers to book a visit, captures the details of a request, filters junk callers, and hands the call over when it hears words you've flagged. Jobber sells it as an add-on to any plan and gives it away on Plus (Source: Jobber, AI Receptionist).
If you already pay Jobber every month, that is the first thing to turn on, and for most people reading this it is the cheapest correct answer. It writes into the system you already run.
When we searched this in August 2026, eight of the ten results on the first page sold an alternative to that add-on. None of them mentioned it exists.
Beside doesn't connect to Jobber
Plainly: Jobber is not on our integrations list, and neither is any other field-service platform. Calls that Beside answers do not appear in a Jobber job or a Jobber client record. Nothing gets pushed across.
That is a real gap on a page you found by searching for an integration, and it decides the whole question for a lot of readers. What you do instead, and when that trade is worth making, is further down.
So what does Jobber's Receptionist actually cost?
Jobber's pricing page lists Receptionist at $29 a month. Jobber's features page lists the same add-on at $99 a month, sitting right under Marketing Suite at $79. Neither page says what usage either number buys you.
Give Jobber credit here. It publishes every plan price on the open web, from Core at $29 a month billed annually up to Plus at $399, with no sales call to find out. Most of this category makes you book a demo to learn anything. Jobber doesn't.
Most likely those are two tiers of the same add-on. Jobber does not say so on either page, and neither page states what usage comes with either figure, so the number to trust is the one your own account shows you at checkout. On Plus it is included, so there is nothing to work out.
| Three ways the phone gets answered while you're on a job | What it costs | Where the call ends up | Needs a Jobber subscription |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jobber's Receptionist | $29/mo on Jobber's pricing page, $99/mo on its features page, free on Plus | Inside Jobber, with your jobs and clients | Yes |
| A separate line like Beside | $199.99 per user per year, unlimited US and Canada calls and texts | A written summary sent to you after the call | No |
| Voicemail | Nothing | Wherever voicemails go | No |
The fork: who actually needs which
Two readers land on this page, and they should do different things.
You run Jobber and you want the call inside Jobber. Use Jobber's Receptionist. You already pay for the platform, and no separate line will put a booked visit on your Jobber calendar. We are not the better answer for you.
You don't run Jobber, or you run it and only ever wanted the phone answered. Then look at what this search is quietly asking you to buy. Reaching that add-on means a Jobber subscription first, $29 to $399 a month on annual prepaid billing, or $49 to $499 month to month (Source: Jobber pricing). If you want the quoting, scheduling and invoicing, that money is well spent. If all you wanted was for somebody to pick up, you are buying a platform to get a phone answered.
What a line of your own costs
Beside is $16.67 per user per month billed annually, which is $199.99 a year, or $29.99 month to month, with a 7-day free trial. That covers unlimited calls and texts in the US and Canada, one line per user, with no features held back on cheaper tiers (Source: Beside pricing).
Nothing on the Beside side is billed per call, per minute or per conversation. A busy month costs the same as a slow one. Anything about better or smarter answering, test it in the trial. Most answering services are priced by the minute or the call, which taxes you in the weeks the work is coming in.
Gregory Bacciano runs GAB Security in Brooklyn, about twenty guards across construction, retail and residential sites, roughly 500 calls a week. Different trade, same phone problem as a two-truck shop.
"I've lost plenty of business because I wasn't able to get to the call." — — Gregory Bacciano, Owner, GAB Security, Brooklyn
Since switching, he counts three new repeat customers and about three hours a day back.
Priced both ways: a one-truck lawn care operator
Take a solo operator with recurring residential accounts, the most common shape in Jobber's world. Call comes in at 2pm, he is on a mower with ear protection on, and he hears it four hours later. HomeAdvisor's cost guide puts recurring lawn service at $100 to $300 a month per customer, with a national average of $123 spent on lawn care (Source: HomeAdvisor lawn care cost guide).
Path A, stay inside Jobber. The cheapest way in is Core, which is $29 a month billed annually, so $348 for the year. On top of that sits the Receptionist add-on, listed at $29 on one Jobber page and $99 on another. At the $29 Jobber's pricing page publishes, that is $348 more, so about $696 for the year. The features page's $99 would be $1,188 a year for the same add-on, and Jobber does not publish which of the two a Core subscriber actually gets.
So price it at $696 and treat the higher listing as the reason to check at checkout rather than as a bill you can plan around.
Path B, a line on its own. $199.99 for the year, unlimited calls and texts, no platform underneath it. Against the $696 version of Path A that is just under a third, and it buys you no quoting, no scheduling and no invoicing. If you need those, Path A is not expensive, it is just a different purchase.
The arithmetic here is ours. One recurring account at the low end of that range, $100 a month, is $1,200 over a year, six times what the line costs. You do not need to save a stack of jobs to justify it. You need one account you would otherwise have missed.
What you give up without an integration, and what you do instead
The mechanics are plain. Beside answers the call, transcribes and summarizes it, and sends a summary with suggested actions and calendar events afterwards (Source: Beside). Then somebody, you or whoever does your admin, types the job into Jobber. That is a manual step, a couple of minutes a call, and a genuine cost of this route.
If you came here to get calls into Jobber
Turn Receptionist on inside Jobber, and check what the add-on rings up at in your account first. That is the only path that actually writes a booked visit into your schedule.
Beside sits next to that, not inside it. It answers the line and hands you a written summary, and somebody re-enters the job. A few new jobs a day with one person doing intake in the evening: that works, and plenty of shops run exactly that way. Crews you are routing, a dispatcher, thirty calls a day landing on the schedule: Jobber's own add-on is the right tool, and we would rather say so than sell you two minutes of retyping per call, forever.
If this is you, do this
Nobody loses a job on the call they answered. Voicemail is where jobs go to die, and the ones you never hear about are the expensive ones.
| If this is you | Do this |
|---|---|
| On Jobber's Plus plan | Turn Receptionist on today. It is included, and it writes into Jobber |
| On Core, Connect or Grow, and you want calls inside Jobber | Check the add-on price inside your own account, then add it. One bill, one system |
| Not on Jobber, and you only ever wanted the phone answered | Start a line on its own. Don't buy a platform to reach a receptionist |
| On Jobber, and the add-on costs more than the pricing page led you to expect | Check what it actually rings up at in your account. Run Beside's 7-day trial alongside it, then decide whether the calls need to land inside Jobber |
| On Jobber, drowning, genuinely unsure | Try the free ones first. Jobber's is included on Plus, and Beside's trial runs 7 days |
The same question comes up about the other big platform in this space, and the answer there is different, because ServiceTitan is priced for a different size of company. If you run a cleaning business, the volumes look different again.
